North York Moors-Heartbeat Country
Stretching from the county of Cleveland in the north, down to the Vale of Pickering in the south, and from the A19 in the west all the way to the east coast, the North York Moors are famous as the setting for the popular Yorkshire Television series of Heartbeat made famous by Nick Berry who played the role of PC Nick Rowan. Filmed on location in the village of Goathland, which is now better known as Aidensfield from the series, the spectacular scenery is worth a visit at any time of year. The North Yorks Moors Railway steam engines are those used in the series. They operate a regular service from Whitby to Grosmont and on through Goathland all the way to Pickering.
